What's New For The 2019 Chevy Silverado?

The unveiling of the remarkably revised 2019 Chevrolet Silverado coincides with the brand's 100-year anniversary of the first trucks made by Chevrolet. One of the most significant updates to this line of full-sized pickups is the increased interior size.

The added space was mostly added to the cab portion, providing larger back seats, more extended leg room, and more comfort. The extended Crew Cab models got some added space in the rear as well. In addition to that, Chevrolet says the cargo box capacity has also been increased.

Furthermore, you can expect the 6.2-Liter V8, 5.3-liter V8 and 2.7-liter turbo models to have quieter engines than previous models.

2019 Chevy Silverado Trims & Features

The interior of the 2019 Silverado has changed a lot compared to the 2018 model. You will find a much trimmer layout when it comes to the driver side control mechanisms. For one thing, the integrated trailer brake controller sits near the engine start/stop button, which is located on the lower center console just above the driver's right knee.

The new 2019 Chevy Silverado has the 4×4 control knob and buttons near the top rather than lower. Furthermore, the small electronic parking brake switch has been moved just left of the steering wheel. As for the steering wheel, unlike the older models, the new Silverado steering wheel sits dead center, not slightly offset to the side.

Though the center stack looks familiar, you will notice many differences there as well. First of all, the radio and media controls are situated below an eight-inch infotainment screen. Below that, are the HVAC controls. There are nine switches underneath the HVAC controls intended for various functions depending on the model. Lastly, at the very bottom, you will find the USB ports and charger outlets.

Another interior change is the dual glove boxes, as well as the redesigned door cards.

2019 Chevy Silverado Horsepower

2019 Chevy SilveradoAs for the 2.7-liter turbo engine, it boasts a yield of 310 horsepower, 348 pound-foot (ft-lb) of torque, with a DOHC 16-valve direct-injection design. You will get instant throttle response thanks to its dual-volute turbocharger.

The new 2019 Chevrolet 2.7-Liter also includes two cylinder deactivation, cam profile changes according to power needs, and dynamic cam timing. The two-piece camshaft units offer each valve up to three different lift profiles for deactivation, low-power, or high-power. Chevy has revived the term "Tri-Power," which should make the vintage enthusiasts happy.

The big news for the V8 engines is Chevrolet new Dynamic Fuel Management System. This new technology takes cylinder deactivation to another level entirely.

While the 2.7-Liter turbocharged engine could only change from a V8 to a V4, the 5.3-Liter provides you with 17 different deactivation profiles. Additionally, it can choose a different pattern every 12.5 milliseconds, allowing the Silverado to adapt to changing conditions in near real time.

As for the powerful 6.2-Liter V8, it features a 10-speed automatic transmission powered by a 420 horsepower engine. This V8 model boasts 460 pound-foot of torque.

2019 Chevy Silverado Safety

2019 Chevy SilveradoSafety is at the top of the list of concerns for potential truck buyers. With that said, the 2019 Chevy Silverado will is a lot safer than the previous models. Pickups have a tough role to fill: not only do they have to be tough and rugged but they must also have many of the features of a luxury car.

The new 2019 Silverado offers anti-lock brakes, stability control, an ignition disable device, as well as front-impact, side, and overhead airbags.
