Automotive safety has come a long way over the past few decades and it continues to evolve, resulting in safer vehicles. Ever changing technology has given automakers the ability to develop innovative, advanced safety features that work as a second pair of eyes for drivers and prevent avoidable accidents. A few of these components stand out from the rest and are available on many cars today, including several 2015 Chevy models. View their advantages below and discover why modern safety technologies are worth every penny.

Rear Vision Camera/Rear Cross Traffic Alert

A rear vision camera fitted to the back of the vehicle allows drivers to see what's happening behind the car through an image that's fed to the dashboard display. It works in conjunction with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, which utilizes sensors on the rear of car to notify drivers when there are people, cars or objects obstructing the vehicle.

Lane Change Alert

Lane Change Alert uses long-range radar sensors to signal drivers when cars in adjacent lanes are approaching at a fast pace. It can detect cars up to 230 ft. away and help prevent accidents caused by reckless drivers.

Forward Collision Alert/Front Automatic Braking

Abrupt braking by cars can often lead to front-end collisions, but with Forward Collision Alert these scenarios can be avoided. When traveling at speeds over 25 mph, the technology automatically activates, and will use audible and visual signals to notify drivers if there are possible collisions up ahead. This gives drivers ample to time to act before they approach the threat; however, if they fail to respond, Front Automatic Braking will kick in, bringing the car to a complete stop.

Safety Alert Seat

Available on select Chevy models, including the 2015 Suburban & 2015 Tahoe, Safety Alert Seat uses vibrations to warn the driver when there is a potential hazard near the rear or front of the car. This gives them the opportunity to identify the problem area and make adjustments accordingly.

Side Blind Zone Alert

Blind spot areas will never be a problem again with Side Blind Zone Alert. This system uses sensors to detect cars in a driver's blind spot and uses an amber signal in the side view mirror to let them know about the oncoming car.
