Federal EV Tax Credit

What Should Chevrolet Buyers in Phoenix Know About EV Tax Credits and Charging Incentives?

The federal government has updated its Clean Vehicle Credit program, which may impact your purchase. This incentive offers up to $7,500 in tax savings but is set to expire on September 30, 2025, unless renewed by Congress. The separate home EV charger credit ends June 30, 2026. Both programs are time-sensitive.

Who Qualifies for the Full Clean Vehicle Credit—and How Much Could You Get?

The credit is split into two parts:

  • $3,750 if the EV meets mineral sourcing guidelines
  • $3,750 if it meets battery component requirements

Not every vehicle qualifies for the full amount. Some only qualify for half, and others may not be eligible at all. Check eligibility before finalizing your Chevrolet EV purchase.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements for Chevrolet EVs?

To qualify, a Chevrolet EV must:

  • Be brand new at time of sale
  • Include a battery with at least 7 kWh
  • Be assembled in North America
  • Be made by a qualified manufacturer
Price limits apply:
  • Under $80,000 MSRP for trucks, SUVs, and vans
  • Under $55,000 MSRP for all other vehicles

The sale must be reported to the IRS, and you must meet income limits.

What Happens If You Wait Too Long to Take Advantage of These Credits?

The Clean Vehicle Credit expires after September 30, 2025, and the charger credit wraps up by June 30, 2026. These programs are not guaranteed to return. If you're considering a Chevrolet EV, waiting may cost you valuable incentives.
