Global Chevrolet leadership stated that this 1-of-1 model was specifically designed to honor service members. As America's quickest production vehicle, the ZR1X was built to make a difference, with all proceeds from its auction supporting the Tunnel to Towers Foundation's mission to support veterans and their families.

The auction's successful bidder was Rick Hendrick, CEO of Hendrick Automotive Group and Hendrick Motorsports. He walked away with a Stars & Steel-themed Corvette ZR1X that received a custom hand-painted finish from General Motors' own Design Fabrication shop. The car features striking blue accents and blue brake calipers. At its heart is a twin-turbocharged V8 engine, promising decades of exhilarating performance.

Frank Siller, the head of Tunnel to Towers, noted that General Motors and Chevrolet have a long history of standing with the foundation. This latest gift is instrumental in helping the organization provide housing and support to the families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Over the last 15 years, Chevrolet's collaborations with Barrett-Jackson have generated $15.5 million for charity. Craig Jackson of Barrett-Jackson remarked that the winning bidder now owns a piece of history that is as significant for its performance as it is for its purpose.
