There are two powertrains for the 2021 Malibu: a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with 160 horsepower and 184 LB-FT of torque; and a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder delivering 250 horsepower and 260 LB-FT of torque. A Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) is standard on all trims except the Premier, where the 9-speed automatic transmission is standard.
