Specs at a Glance
For a long time, the Chevrolet Suburban has proven to be one of the best-selling and most popular vehicles in North America. Now redesigned for the 2021 model year to kick off its twelfth generation of production, this full-size SUV is bigger, roomier, and more powerful than ever before. It is available in six trim levels, with the base-level LS on one end and the High Country on the other end.
Performance
Whether you go for the LS or the High Country, you get gobs of power under the hood of the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban. The LS is powered by a 5.3-liter V8, which produces 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. With the High Country, you get a larger, more powerful 6.2-liter V8, an output of 420 horsepower, and 460 lb-ft of torque. The High Country has a higher maximum tow rating combined with the Max Trailering Package than the LS, at 8,200 lbs compared to 7,900 lbs.
Appearance
At the base level, the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban rides on 18-inch bright silver-painted aluminum wheels, and it has black assist steps to get into a vehicle as big as it is. The front and back are fitted with LED lamps, and upper active aero shutters are included in the front for engine temperature control. The roof bears shiny roof-mounted side rails for cargo carrying. Chevrolet replaces the 18-inch wheels with larger, 22-inch ones with chrome inserts on the High Country, and it adds chrome inserts on the door handles for a more premium exterior finish.
Features
With three rows of seats, the 2021 Suburban can seat up to eight people. (However, if you go with the High Country, Chevrolet swaps the second-row bench-style seat with a pair of captain’s chairs to reduce maximum occupancy to seven.) Standard on the Suburban is tech features like keyless entry, remote start, tri-zone automatic climate control, a rearview camera, and the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 infotainment system (which combines elements such as a 10.2-inch color touchscreen, a six-speaker AM/FM stereo system with HD Radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, Bluetooth, eight USB ports, a trial subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio, and a Wi-Fi hotspot).
Several upgrades await you at the High Country level; they include a Bose 10-speaker stereo system, wireless device charging, a surround-view camera system, navigation, and head-up and rearview camera mirror systems.
